RESEARCH

Project Designing for Specific users is focused on designing for users with a disability. In previous projects, we have designed products for a larger focus group, where our products  needed to be inclusive. With this project, we design for one specific user with unique needs. This will be a product that will support their special needs in daily life.

We have been assigned a co-designer, someone we will have to get to know first, to learn about their abilities, daily life, experiences, needs, wishes and ideas. With the help of co-design methods, interviews, discussion and design sessions we will design a product together. Unfortunately, this will all be online.

The co-designer that we will be working with in this module suffers from short term memory loss. This results in forgetting to do tasks and forgetting what he just has done and what he still needs to do. Mostly tasks our co-designer has to do in the house, like doing the dishes, doing laundry and packing his stuff, are difficult for him. When he has tasks outside his house, there will be someone joining him, for example with training sessions. Further explanation and insights into his conditions can be found in the literature study.
